SYMPTOMSWhen you open a document in any of the Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition programs, you may receive the following error message: If you click Cancel, you receive the following error message and you can either click Cancel or Search. NOTE: You may only see the second error message and not the first. Also, if you click Cancel to both error messages (or just to the second one if that is all you see), the movie object is converted to a picture and cannot be run. If you then save your document with the movie displayed as a picture, the movie will be permanently converted to a picture. CAUSEYou may receive these error messages if both of the following are true:
-and- When you insert a movie into an Office program document, the movie file is not embedded in the document; rather, a link to the movie file is added to the document. This is why you are prompted to insert the disk that contained the movie file and/or to search for the movie file if the original source is unavailable when you open the Office document. RESOLUTION
To prevent the error messages listed in the "Symptoms" section from
appearing when you open a document with a movie in it, make sure the source
of the movie is available when you open the document. Or, if you are
prompted for a disk when you open the document, insert the disk instead of
clicking Cancel.
