Query98: "Table Does Not Exist..." Error Adding Index to Locked Table

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Query 98 Macintosh Edition, when you try to add an index to a table, you may receive the following error message:

Table does not exist:<hard drive name>:<path>:<table name>


CAUSE

You may receive this error if the table for which you are trying to create the index is locked.


RESOLUTION

To create the index successfully, unlock the table. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. In Finder, locate and select the table.


  2. On the File menu, click Get Info.


  3. In the Info window, clear the Locked check box.


  4. Close the Info window.
