SYMPTOMSWhen you open a Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition workbook that contains one or more links, and you click Yes to update the link(s), you may receive the following error:
CAUSEYou may receive this error when you update your links if one of the links is to a file whose name begins with a period (.). RESOLUTION
To prevent this problem from occurring, change the name of any workbook to
which you are linking so that its name does not begin with a period (.).
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition. REFERENCESFor more information about updating links, click Contents And Index on the Help menu (or on the Balloon Help menu if you are using a version of the Macintosh operating system earlier than 8.0), click the Index button in Microsoft Excel Help, type the following text linking data, updating linksand then click Show Topics. Select the "Update references to a workbook that has been renamed or moved" topic, and click Go To. If you are unable to find the information you need, ask the Office Assistant.
