ID: Q49424

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 2.x, 3.0, 4.0, 4.0a, 5.0
  • Microsoft Excel for OS/2, versions 2.2, 2.21, 3.0

SUMMARY

When you don't select Zero Values in the Display dialog box of the Options menu, you can still have cells show a zero value. To have certain cells display zeros, do the following:

  1. Choose Format Number and create the format 0;0;0;. The semicolons separate the three types of number displays: positive, negative, or text, respectively.

  2. For those particular cells to be displayed as 0 (zero), format those cells that have a zero value with this format.

For more information on the Format Number command, refer to the "Format Number" section in the "Microsoft Excel Reference" manual.
