Excel: Save Dialog Appears When No Changes Have Been Made

ID: Q61289

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, versions 1.x, 2.x, 3.0, 4.0

SUMMARY

The message "Save Changes in 'filename'?" may appear in Microsoft Excel when no apparent changes have been made in a worksheet.

This may happen when a function, such as NOW or RAND, or an iterative formula is present in the worksheet. Because functions of this type update every time the worksheet is recalculated or opened, Excel sees this as a change and prompts you to save.
