SUMMARY
Microsoft Excel can display numbers in a financial format. For
example, Excel can format the number "12,500,000" to appear as "12.5",
yet still use the number 12,500,000 in any formula calculations.
This would be entered in the Format text box in the Format Number dialog box. In this example, having two commas represents the figure in millions. Removing or adding commas to the end of the number format scales the number by the appropriate amount of thousands.
