Excel: Hewlett-Packard DeskJet Prints at 300 dpi Only

ID: Q62511

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, versions 2.2, 3.0, 4.0

SUMMARY

The Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet normally gives print-quality options of 75 dpi (dots per inch), 100 dpi, 150 dpi, and 300 dpi. However, when using Microsoft Excel, the print-quality box is dimmed and print quality defaults to 300 dpi.

This situation occurs because Excel has a built-in feature to print at 300 dpi when printing to a LaserWriter. Currently there is no workaround for this behavior.
