Excel: Text Truncated When Using Parse Command

SUMMARY

In Microsoft Excel, when you use the Parse command (on the Data menu), if the number of characters in the cell plus the Parse characters ("[" and "]") exceeds 255, the data will be truncated.

Microsoft Excel limits the amount of characters that can be entered into an edit dialog box to 255. When the Parse characters are added, they are included in this 255 character limit. Therefore, the data after the first 255 characters (including the Parse characters) will be truncated.
