Buttons on Worksheets and Custom Dialogs Convert to Pure Color

ID: Q68505

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 3.0, 4.0, 4.0a, 5.0

SUMMARY

If the [colors] section of the WIN.INI file specifies a ButtonFace color, and the ButtonFace color is not a pure color available on the display, buttons on a worksheet or in custom dialog boxes in Microsoft Excel will display the faces of their buttons in the nearest pure color available. Dialog boxes that are generated by Microsoft Windows, such as the Format Font dialog, will display with button faces in the dithered color.

If a button on a worksheet is selected with CTRL+click or the marquee tool, and the text on the button is edited, the face of the button will change to the dithered color while editing. When something else is selected, the button will return to a pure color.
