ID: Q70722

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 2.x, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0

SUMMARY

Page 166 of the "Microsoft Excel Function Reference" (version 3.0) states that the KEY_TEXT, {ENTER}, or ~ (tilde) can be used interchangeably in the ON.KEY function. This is true for versions of Microsoft Excel earlier than 3.0. However, in version 3.0 of Microsoft Excel, the KEY_TEXT, {ENTER}, specifies the numeric keypad ENTER key, and the KEY_TEXT, ~, specifies the ENTER key on the main keyboard

MORE INFORMATION

The ON.KEY function will run the specified macro when a particular key or key combination is pressed. The above mentioned change will allow you to independently specify the main keyboard and numeric keypad ENTER keys.
