Excel: Stationery Files Are Treated as Templates

ID: Q77296

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, versions 3.0, 4.0

SUMMARY

If you define a Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh version 3.0 or 4.0 normal document as a Stationery pad under System 7.0 and place it in the Microsoft Excel Startup folder, Microsoft Excel treats the document as a template. The file is added to the list of file types in the New dialog box, but Microsoft Excel does not open the file at startup.

MORE INFORMATION

To determine if a file has been set as a Stationery pad:

  1. From the Finder, select the file.

  2. From the File menu, choose Get Info.

  3. Check to see if the Stationery pad option is checked. If it is and the file was saved in the normal Microsoft Excel file format, clear the option to allow the file to open normally.
