Excel: Editing a Password-Protected Template

SUMMARY

This article discusses the proper method for opening a password-protected original template document for editing.

Note: The method for editing an original template document is discussed on page 557 of the "Microsoft Excel User's Guide" for version 3.0.


MORE INFORMATION

To open a password-protected document for editing:

  1. From the File Menu, choose Open.


  2. In the Files box, select the template you want to edit or type the complete filename in the File Name box.


  3. Press the SHIFT key and choose OK.


  4. In the Password box, enter the password.


  5. Press the SHIFT key and choose OK.


The original template document can now be edited.
