Excel: Legend May Display Incorrectly on 3-D Surface Chart

Unlike other charts in Excel, the legend on a 3-D surface chart does not refer to data series but to a value range.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

1. Create a 3-D Surface Chart.



2. From the Chart menu, choose Add Legend.



3. Select the vertical axis.



4. From the Format menu, choose Scale.



5. Select the check box "Values in Reverse Order" and choose the OK button.



6. The legend will now display improperly.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in a later version of Microsoft Excel.
