Excel: Data Extraction Copies Most Cell Formatting

SUMMARY

Data extracted from a database to an extract range in Microsoft Excel retains most of the cell appearance formatting that has been applied to the database.


MORE INFORMATION

The following formatting does carry over from the database to the extract range:

  • Patterns


  • Borders and shading


  • Fonts


  • Alignment


  • Number formats


  • Row height


Types of formatting information which are not copied from extracted cells in the database to target cells in the extract range are:

  • Cell protection


  • Cell notes


  • Cell column width
