SUMMARY
When you print a Microsoft Excel document to a Hewlett Packard (HP)
LaserJet 4 printer, cells that contain patterns may not print correctly
if the internal resolution setting on the printer is set to 300 dots per
inch (dpi).
Cells formatted with certain options in the Patterns dialog box will
appear correctly on the screen and in print preview, but the patterns
will be omitted from the printed page.
This problem will occur with the HP LaserJet 4/4M PostScript driver if
the resolution setting for the driver is 600 dpi and the internal
resolution setting on the printer is set to 300.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, change the resolution setting on the
printer from 300 dpi to 600 dpi:
- Take the printer off-line.
- With the MENU key, choose the JOB MENU.
- With the ITEM key, select the option labeled Resolution=300*
- Use the PLUS key to toggle the resolution to 600.
- Press the ENTER key to confirm the change.
The display should now read: Resolution = 600 *.
- Switch the printer back on-line and resume printing.
