SUMMARY
When you use a navigation bar on a Web that contains a shared border, you
will be able to specify page-per-page properties for the navigation bar.
However, when the navigation bar is viewed in the browser, it will only
retain the characteristics of the last setting specified.

Shared borders are page regions (top, bottom, left, and right) that are
used to hold content that you want to appear consistently across all pages
