FP2000: Incorrect URL Appears in Background Sound Dialog Box

ID: Q219205

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you specify a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) to a background sound through the Page Properties dialog box, the URL that appears in the URL box is not the URL you specified in the Web browser. Instead, you may see a link to one of the following:

  • The last page you viewed in the Web browser.

  • The page you specified as the default home page in your Web browser.

  • A link to the Fpbrowse.htm file, similar to the following:

    file:///C:/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office/1033/Fpbrowse.htm

CAUSE

The browser is not sending the correct URL back to FrontPage.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, determine what the URL to the background sound file is, and then use a copy and paste operation to add the URL to the page properties. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Start the Web browser.

  2. In the Address box, type the URL address for the background sound to which you want to link. Press ENTER.

  3. After the page has loaded, select the URL in the Address box, and press CTRL+C.

  4. Start or switch to FrontPage. Open your web and the page on which you want to apply the background sound.

  5. On the File menu, click Properties.

  6. In the Location box in the Background Sound section, paste the URL to the background sound file.

  7. Click OK.
