FP2000: Scheduled Picture Does Not Prompt to Save Embedded File in Disk-Based Web

ID: Q219601

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you use a disk-based web to save a scheduled picture component on a page that includes a picture to display before and after the scheduled time, FrontPage only prompts to save the picture displayed during the scheduled time. Therefore, the picture specified in the Before and after the scheduled time box is not saved to the web.

CAUSE

The scheduled picture component requires an HTTP Uniform Resource Locator (URL) instead of a file path.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, import your pictures into the web and then insert the scheduled picture component. To import a file, follow these steps:

  1. On the File menu, click Import.

  2. In the Import dialog box, click Add file.

  3. Browse to the location of the picture and select it.

  4. Click Open.

  5. In the Import dialog box, click OK.

MORE INFORMATION

If you publish a FrontPage web with the file URL of the image inserted into your web, a broken image may be displayed on the web page. This is because the URL is evaluated by the browser. If the path to the image on your system is g:\images\my.gif, any browser that does not have its G drive mapped to a share containing an images directory and a mygif file will see a broken image. For this reason, the scheduled picture component requires an HTTP URL.
