FP2000: Import Wizard Does Not Import Navigation Structure Information

ID: Q219768

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Import Wizard to import an existing Web with a navigation structure into a newly created Web, the navigation structure is not present.

CAUSE

If the Web you are importing is disk-based, the Import Wizard does not import the navigation structure configuration file (Structure.cnf) that is located in the _vti_pvt folder.

If the Web you are importing is server-based, the wizard cannot access the structure information from a remote location.

The Import Wizard was designed to import non-FrontPage-related content into your Web.

RESOLUTION

If the Web you are importing was created with FrontPage, use the Publish command on the File menu to copy the Web to the destination location. This keeps the navigation structure intact.
