ID: Q219773

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you publish a server-based web to a disk-based web, your Index.html file is changed to Index.htm.

CAUSE

FrontPage 2000 renames the Index.html file to Index.htm. In FrontPage 2000, a home page should be named Index.htm in a disk-based web.

RESOLUTION

If your home page needs to be named Index.html, open the disk-based web in FrontPage 2000, and change the name from Index.htm to Index.html. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. On the File menu, click Open Web.

  2. Navigate to the disk-based web, and click Open.

  3. In the Views panel, click Folders.

  4. Right-click Index.htm, and click Rename.

  5. Type Index.html for the name of the page, and press ENTER.

  6. When asked whether you want to change the name, click Yes.

  7. A dialog box similar to the following may appear:
There are xx pages that have hyperlinks to this page.

Do you want to update these pages so that the
    hyperlinks will not be broken?

  8. Click Yes.
