FP2000: Characters Added to Hyperlink Text Are Not Added to Hyperlink

SYMPTOMS

When you try to add some text to a hyperlink, the added characters do not become part of the hyperlink.

Similarly, when you have the Reveal Tags option selected, characters that you add to the hyperlink text are moved to the right of the </A> tag.


RESOLUTION

To add text to a hyperlink, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Recreate the Hyperlink

To recreate the hyperlink, follow these steps:
  1. Select the hyperlink that you want to add text to.


  2. Press CTRL+K to access the Edit Hyperlink dialog box.


  3. Clear the URL box, and click OK.


  4. Add text to the hyperlink.


  5. Select the text that will be used for your hyperlink.


  6. Press CTRL+K to create the hyperlink.


  7. Click to select the page you want to link to, or type the URL in the URL box. Click OK.


Method 2: Edit the HTML Source Code

To edit the HTML source code of the hyperlink, follow these steps:
  1. Select the hyperlink to change.


  2. Click the HTML tab. The source code of the hyperlink that you selected will be selected in HTML view.


  3. Change the text to the left of the </A> tag and to the right of the <A HREF> tag.


  4. Click the Normal tab.



STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
