FP2000: Value Column Is Blank for Choice Items in Drop-Down Menu

ID: Q219972

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you create a drop-down menu in a form and you add a choice, the value field is blank.

CAUSE

The Specify Value option is not selected.

RESOLUTION

If you want to specify a value other than the value of the choice for the drop-down menu, you must select the Specify Value option. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. To view its properties, double-click your drop-down menu.

  2. Click to select the choice item you want to specify a value for, and click Modify.

  3. Select the Specify Value check box, and click OK.

The value column for the choice item now contains the same text.

    Click OK.

NOTE: The value of the drop-down choice is automatically submitted when a form is submitted. This value does not appear in the HTML but does appear in the form results.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
