FP2000: Border Content Does Not Appear on Included Page

ID: Q229533

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000

SYMPTOMS

If the shared border of a Web page contains an Include page and the Web page has shared borders enabled, the Include page will not appear in the shared border region.

If you browse to other pages with the shared border enabled, the page does appear in the shared border.

If you modify and save the shared border of the Include page, all other pages lose the included page from their shared border.

CAUSE

Border content does not appear on pages where an Include page references itself. If you modify a shared border on this page, the shared border will be changed throughout the entire web.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

Do not make modifications to shared borders on pages that are included in the shared border region. The shared border of this page will not appear where the page is included, so if you make a change, you will overwrite your existing content.

It is not recommended to modify the shared borders of an Include page. The best workaround is to modify the shared border regions in a different page. This will help avoid this problem and keep your web site running smoothly.

If you have made changes to the shared border regions of an Include page and now the page no longer appears on the shared borders in your web, open a page with shared borders (other than the Include page), and add the Include page in the region again.
