FP2000: Source Control Error When You Undo Checkout of File That Was Moved

ID: Q229534

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you check out a file, move the file, and then try to undo the checkout or check the file in, the following error message appears:

Server error: There is a problem with source control integration on your server. Contact your web server Administrator.
When you click OK, your file remains checked out.

CAUSE

When you modify a file that has been checked out, the modifications are made on the client computer. When you move a file that has been checked out, the client software is updated with this change; however, the server software is not updated with this change. When you attempt to check the file in or undo a checkout after you have moved a checked-out file, the server software shows the file in its original location, and it reports the error message described in the "Symptoms" section of this article.

RESOLUTION

To move a file that is checked out, you must first check the file in and then move the file to the location you want.

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

  1. Move the file to its original location within your web.

  2. In Folders view, right-click the file, and click Undo Checkout or Check In.

    The file is checked in.

  3. Move the file to the location you want.

The file is moved, and you may now check the file out for editing.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
