FP98: Some HTML Tags Retained After Deleting Selection

SYMPTOMS

When you have a hand tagged HyperText Markup Language (HTML) document where formatting tags span multiple paragraphs, like this

<FONT SIZE=2> <P>Some Text</P> <P>More Text</P> </FONT>
and you select and delete the paragraphs, the formatting tags may be retained, like this:
<FONT SIZE=2><P></FONT>


CAUSE

This problem occurs because FrontPage attempts to preserve the original formatting of the hand tagged HTML document.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install the FrontPage 98b binary patch.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
