FP98: Cannot Open or Create Webs Remotely with MSPWS 4.0 for Windows 95

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to open a FrontPage Web from another computer in FrontPage 98, the following message appears:


   The server could not complete your request.  Contact your Internet
   service provider or Web server administrator to make sure that the
   server has the FrontPage Server Extensions installed.  For more specific
   information, click Details. 


When you click Details, the following additional information is displayed:


   Error 403.1
   HTTP Error 403
   403.1 Forbidden: Execute Access Forbidden.
   This error can be caused if you try to execute a CGI, ISAPI, or other
   executable program from a directory that does not allow programs to be
   executed. Please contact the Web server's administrator if the problem
   persists. 


CAUSE

The Microsoft Personal Web Server for Windows 95 version 4.0, included with the Windows NT 4.0 option Pack, does not support remote authoring of FrontPage webs.
