SYMPTOMSWhen you are uninstalling Microsoft FrontPage 98, the following error message may appear:
CAUSEThe file <X>:\ContentRoot\_vti_pvt\services.cnf (where <X> is the drive to which the content is stored) has been manually edited so that the root Web, "/" (without the quotation marks), is not listed at the top of the file. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft FrontPage 98 for Windows. WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, you must manually edit the Services.cnf file in the following location: <X>:\ContentRoot\_vti_pvt\services.cnfThe root Web "/" (without the quotation marks) should be listed at the top of the file. After this is done and the file is saved, repeat the uninstall procedure. If FrontPage 98 does not show up in the Add/Remove Programs dialog box in Control Panel, the uninstall was successful, despite the error. The Services.cnf file should still be manually edited to allow a correct reinstallation of Microsoft FrontPage 98. Example of incorrect Services.cnf file:
