Fp_install.sh Cannot Find FrontPage Extensions TAR File

SYMPTOMS

When you run the fp_install.sh script from a Joliet-formatted CD, the following error message appears:

Cannot find the FrontPage Extensions tar file. Which directory is the
file located in (X to cancel)?

CAUSE

UNIX automatically makes file names all lower-case letters on Joliet- formatted CD-ROM media. The installation script is looking for fp30.<platform>.tar.Z and does not recognize fp30.<platform>.tar.z.

(Notice the "z" at the end of the two file names.)

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft FrontPage 98 for Windows.

WORKAROUND

NOTE: Notice the case change in the .tar file name below.

To work around this problem, do the following:

1. Copy the file from the Compact-CD drive to /usr/local/ on the hard disk drive.



2. Rename it from fp30.<platform>.tar.z to fp30.<platform>.tar.Z.



3. Run the fp_install.sh script again.
