Install Extensions to Multi-Homed Netscape Server on UNIX

SUMMARY

This article describes how to install the FrontPage 98 Server Extensions To a multiple magnus.conf:obj.conf / multiple IP address Netscape server on UNIX platforms.

This article applies to the following Netscape servers on UNIX platforms:

Netscape Communications
Netscape FastTrack
Netscape Enterprise

For sites that are running multiple Netscape daemons with multiple configuration files, you must use the following procedure when installing the FrontPage 98 Server Extensions:

  1. Install the extensions to the first Netscape server using the fp_install.sh script.


  2. For more information on how to install the Server Extensions using this script, see the Server Extensions Resource Kit online at:
    http://officeupdate.microsoft.com/frontpage/wpp/serk/
  3. Use the command "mv /usr/local/frontpage/we80.cnf <IPAddress>:80.cnf" (without the quotation marks), where <IPAddress> is the IP address of the virtual server you are installing to.


  4. Use the Fpsrvadm.exe file to install to the next virtual server.

  5. Repeat steps 2 and 3 as needed.


WARNING: If you do not follow the above procedure, each installation of the FrontPage 98 Server Extensions will write to /usr/local/frontpage/we80.cnf, and only the last virtual server installed will be functional through FrontPage.
