ID: Q202323

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) to create new nested subwebs, and you choose to use unique permissions, the parent Web's permissions are inherited.

CAUSE

When you create subwebs in the MMC, FrontPage applies the permissions of the parent Web to the subweb.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, remove the root Web's groups from the subweb. In the FrontPage client, do the following:

  1. On the File menu, click Open Web.

  2. Select your Web, and click Open.

  3. On the Tools menu, point to Security and click Permissions.

  4. On the Groups tab, highlight the group you want to remove and click the Remove button.

  5. When you have removed all the groups that you want to, click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions.
