How to Convert a Folder into a Subweb

SUMMARY

To convert a root Web folder into a subweb, create a new subweb with the same name as the existing folder, and choose Empty Web for the Template.

NOTE: The folder you want to convert must be directly under the root of the server (for example, C:\InetPub\WWWRoot\foldername where foldername is the name of the folder you want to make into a subweb). It cannot be a folder inside of another folder in the Web.

To convert a folder to a subweb from within FrontPage Explorer, follow these steps:

  1. Click File.


  2. Point to New.


  3. Click FrontPage Web.


  4. Under "Choose the kind of FrontPage web to create," click Empty Web.


  5. Under "Choose a title for you FrontPage web," type the name of the folder you want to convert.


  6. Verify that the correct server name shows beneath the subweb name.


  7. Click OK.


The next time you list Webs on your server, the folder will be listed as a subweb.
