FP1: Can't See Pointer w/9600 Graphics Accelerator Extension and IMS Twin Turbo Graphics Card

SYMPTOMS

When you edit a page in FrontPage Editor, you may not see the pointer.


CAUSE

This problem occurs if you are using the Integrated Micro Solutions (IMS) Twin Turbo graphics card. The 9600 Graphics Accelerator extension is used to display text and graphic acceleration functions for the IMS Twin Turbo graphics card.


RESOLUTION

To solve the problem, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Disable Text Acceleration in the IMS Twin Turbo Control Panel

  1. From the IMS Twin Turbo control panel, click General Controls.


  2. Select the Disable Text Acceleration option, and then click OK.


  3. Close the IMS Twin Turbo control panel, and restart the computer.


Method 2: Disable the 9600 Graphics Accelerator Extension

Disable the 9600 Graphics Accelerator extension by moving the extension from the System:Extensions folder to the Extension Disabled folder, and restart the computer.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
