SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to open an image with an external image editor, the following error message may occur:

The file <filename>.tmp could not be opened. Please make sure the file extension is correct.


CAUSE

When you use an external image editor, the extension of the image is not passed to the editor. Some editors cannot properly edit images without the proper extension.


RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next FrontPage 98 that contains this fix.
