MOD2000: Category Moves Unexpectedly in Code Librarian

SYMPTOMS

In the Code Librarian, if you right-click two categories, one after the other, the first category is moved and appears as a subcategory of the second category.


RESOLUTION

If you accidentally move a category, follow these steps to put it back:

  1. Click the category to highlight it.


  2. Drag the category to where you want it.

    NOTE: If it is a top-level category, just drag it onto the "Code Library" topic.


To avoid this behavior in the future, if you right-click a category in the Code Librarian, make sure that the shortcut menu is closed before you right-click another category. You can close the shortcut menu by doing one of the following:
  • If you want to select a command, such as Rename or Delete, click it on the shortcut menu.
  • -or-
  • If you do not want to select a command, click anywhere inside the Code Librarian.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Office 2000 Developer, and then click Code Librarian.


  2. Open the sample code library named Codelib.mdb.


  3. Right-click the Access category. Note that the shortcut menu opens.


  4. With the shortcut menu open, right-click the DAO Module category. Note that Access now appears under the DAO Module.
