MOD2000: Error Message: "Object Variable or With Block Variable Not Set" Packaging an Access Project

This article applies only to a Microsoft Access project (.adp).


SYMPTOMS

When you create a package for a Microsoft Access project (*.adp or *.ade) with the "Package and Deployment" Wizard, you may receive the following error message when you click Package on the first screen of the wizard:

Object variable or With block variable not set
When you click OK, the wizard continues successfully to completion without additional related errors.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.


MORE INFORMATION

This error does not indicate any damage to the package or to your system. It has no effect on the operation of the "Package and Deployment" Wizard. You can continue to create and then distribute the package.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

NOTE: To complete the following steps, you must have either the Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE) installed or a connection to SQL Server.
  1. Start Microsoft Access and create a new Access project.


  2. Press ALT+F11 to open the Visual Basic Editor.


  3. On the Add-ins menu, click Package and Deployment Wizard.


  4. On first screen of the "Package and Deployment" Wizard, click Package. Note that you receive the error message mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.


  5. Click OK. The wizard continues with no further related errors.
