SYMPTOMS
Only the person who installed the Access Workflow Designer client components can successfully take a workflow-enabled solution offline on that same computer. If you did not install the Access Workflow Designer client components, and you log on to that computer, and try to take a workflow-enabled solution offline, you see a password prompt that contains the following:
Enter Password - Web Page Dialog
Enter your password:
Your password will be saved for this session. When done, close all
browser windows to ensure the password is discarded.
CAUSE
Access Workflow Designer does not allow anyone but the login that originally installed the Access Workflow Designer client components to take a workflow-enabled solution offline on that same computer. A Microsoft SQL Server login is created for the login installing the Access Workflow Designer client components. This SQL Server login is created so that this login can take and use a workflow-enabled solution offline. When someone other than the person who originally installed the Access Workflow Designer client components logs on and attempts to take the workflow-enabled solution offline, there is no previously created SQL Server login for this person. This causes the password prompt.
For example, if Joe logs on to his computer and installs the Access Workflow Designer client components, Jane cannot successfully log on to Joe's computer and take a workflow-enabled solution offline. When she attempts to take the workflow-enabled solution offline, Jane is prompted for a password.
RESOLUTION
The other user must also install the Access Workflow Designer client components on another computer where the workflow-enabled solution can be used offline. Therefore, every user who may take a solution offline must install the Access Workflow Designer client components before taking a workflow-enabled solution offline.
In the case of users Joe and Jane, Jane must log on to her computer and install the Access Workflow Designer client components. Jane can then take one or more workflow-enabled solutions offline.
You can install the client components by using Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 to connect to the following HTML page
http://server name/modWeb/default.htm
where server name is the name of the Access Workflow Designer server computer.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior
NOTE: Before proceeding, you should have an Access Workflow Designer server computer that has had a copy of the Issue Tracking solution deployed on it.
- On a Windows 98 (client) computer, install Microsoft Office 2000 Premium.
- On the client computer, log on as a specific user (for example, Joe) and install Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE) from Microsoft Office 2000 Premium.
- On the client computer, apply the Microsoft SQL Server SP1 patch.
- On the client computer, use Internet Explorer 5 to connect to the following HTML page
http://server name/modWeb/default.htm
where server name is the name of the Access Workflow Designer server computer.
- Create a new Microsoft SQL Server login (for example, Joe) for the user name that you used in step 2.
- Assign this new login (that you created in the previous step) to the Authors role.
- Create another new Microsoft SQL Server login (different from the one that you created in step 5), for example, Jane.
- Assign this new login (that you created in the previous step) to the Readers role.
- On the client computer, use Internet Explorer 5 to connect to the following HTML page
http://server name/database name/default.htm
where server name is the name of the Access Workflow Designer server computer and database name is the name of the Issue Tracking database.
-
Create one or more new issues. Save them.
- Log off the Windows 98 computer.
-
Use the login that you created in step 7 (not the person who installed the client components) to log back on to the Windows 98 computer.
-
On the client computer, use Internet Explorer 5 to connect to the following HTML page
http://server name/database name/default.htm
where server name is the name of the Access Workflow Designer server computer and database name is the name of the Issue Tracking database.
