OFF2000: How to Move a Submenu Anywhere on the Screen

SUMMARY

In any Office application, you can drag a submenu, if it has a move handle (a bar) at the top of the submenu, to a new location. The submenu will become a floating toolbar.

NOTE: A submenu is identified by the triangle symbol to the right of the command name.

The Basic Shapes menu is an example of a submenu that you can move anywhere on the screen. To do this, click AutoShapes on the Drawing toolbar, point to Basic Shapes, click the horizontal bar at the top of the menu, and then drag the menu to a new location. To close the floating toolbar, click the Close button (the "X" in the upper right-hand corner of the toolbar).
