OFF2000: Invalid Page Fault in Msiexec.exe Caused by Win95.cih Virus

SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Office 2000, the following error message appears:

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
If you click Details, an error message similar to the following appears:
MSIEXEC caused an invalid page fault in module MSIEXEC.EXE at 015f:00400288.
followed by the previous error message.


CAUSE

This problem occurs if your computer is infected with the Win95.cih virus.


RESOLUTION

You can remove the virus by obtaining the latest version of an anti-virus program.
