ERROR MESSAGE

When you reference hyperlinks in Visual Basic for Applications, the following error may occur:

Cannot start an Internet session.

CAUSE

This error message may occur when you are using one of the following Visual Basic for Applications methods:

Doc.FollowHyperlink
Hyperlink.Follow
Document.Reload

There is a problem connecting to the Internet.


WHAT TO TRY

  • Try connecting to the Internet directly, outside of Visual Basic for Applications or any of the Office programs.


  • If you are connecting to an Internet Service Provider (ISP), verify that the Dial-up Networking settings are correct. Contact your ISP for the correct configuration information.


  • If you are connecting to the Internet through a network using a proxy server, verify that your proxy server settings are correct.
