OFF2000: Error Message "An internal error occurred while searching..."

ERROR MESSAGE

When you click Find Now in the Find dialog box you receive the following error message

An internal error occurred while searching File name.
where File name is the name of a file that would meet your search criteria.

CAUSE

The file named in the error message is corrupt.

The File in the Error Message Is Corrupt

You must repair the damaged document or move the document to a drive or folder that you are not searching.

Method 1: Repair the Damaged Document

Method 2: Move the Damaged Document

Locate the file that appears in the error message. Using Windows Explorer, move the file to a drive or folder that you are not searching.

To move a file, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, and click Windows Explorer.


  2. Navigate to the folder containing the damaged Office document and click to select the file to be moved.


  3. On the Edit menu, click Cut.


  4. Navigate to a drive or folder that you are not searching. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
