ERROR MESSAGEWhen you try to delete a file in either the Open or Save As dialog box in one of the Office programs the following error message appears: NOTE: Microsoft Office 2000 has built-in functionality that allows you to get more information about difficult-to-troubleshoot alerts or error messages. CAUSEThe file is open. WHAT TO TRYThe File is OpenIf the file is open by another user, or you have the file open in another session of Microsoft Excel on the same computer, close the file before trying to delete it. When Excel opens a file, the file is locked and can only be opened again as read-only. The file cannot be deleted while it is locked.
