OFF2000: No ClipArt Displayed in Microsoft Clip Gallery After Installation

SYMPTOMS

When you point to Picture on the Insert menu and click ClipArt in any of the Microsoft Office 2000 programs, you see no images in the Microsoft Clip Gallery. Instead, you see the following text where the images normally appear:

There were no clips found matching your request.
Try a different media tab or keyword.


CAUSE

The problem occurs when the following conditions are true:

  • You install Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 before installing Office 2000.

  • -and-
  • Your computer is running Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0.

  • -and-
  • Either of the following conditions is true:

    • You use NOIE=TRUE in the command line when running Office 2000 Setup.
    • You apply a transform when installing Office 2000 where you choose Do not install Internet Explorer 5 in step 15 of the Custom Installation Wizard.


RESOLUTION

To avoid this problem before installing, do not use NOIE=TRUE and do not select Do not install Internet Explorer 5 in step 15 of the Custom Installation Wizard, because these conditions have no effect with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 installed.

If you have already installed Office, you must reinstall it. To reinstall Office, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.


  2. In Add/Remove Programs, double-click the Office 2000 product you installed.


  3. Click Repair Office.


  4. Click Reinstall Office, and then click Finish.



STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
