To install Microsoft Office 2000 on a dual-boot computer so that you can run Microsoft Office from either version of Windows, follow the appropriate steps for your configuration.

If Both Versions of Windows Are on the Same Partition (Drive Letter)

  1. Start Windows (either version) and install Microsoft Office 2000 by running the Setup.exe file on the root of the Office CD.

  2. Restart the computer when prompted by Microsoft Office Setup, and start the same version of Windows started in the previous step. This allows Office Setup to complete its installation.

  3. Start the other version of Windows and install Microsoft Office 2000 to the same folder as step 1 by running the Setup.exe file on the root of the Office CD.

  4. Restart the computer when prompted by Microsoft Office Setup, and start the same version of Windows started in the previous step. This allows Office Setup to complete its installation.
