SYMPTOMSWhen you run the Custom Maintenance Wizard (CMW) to update your existing Office installation and you used the /L switch to specify a log file, the log file may not be created. CAUSEThe log file for the Custom Maintenance Wizard may not be created if you were required to restart your computer as a result of the update performed by the Custom Maintenance Wizard. WORKAROUNDAlthough the log file for the Custom Maintenance Wizard was not created, a Windows Installer log file was created during the update of your Office installation. This Windows Installer log file is located in your \Temp folder and has a name in the form CMW####.tmp, where #### is a random 4-digit number. Because the information in the Windows Installer log file is normally copied into the Custom Maintenance Wizard log file, the only information you are missing is the top header section of the Custom Maintenance Wizard log file.
