OFF2000: Find Fast Control Panel Is Not Installed on Windows 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you install Office 2000, you do not see the following features displayed in the Microsoft Office 2000: Selecting Features dialog box:

• Microsoft Find Fast Control Panel (listed under Office Tools)



• Converters for Search Tools (listed under Converters and Filters -- Text Converters)

CAUSE

You do not see these features in the Microsoft Office 2000: Selecting Features dialog box if you are using Windows 2000. These features are intentionally hidden and turned off (disabled) on this version of Windows.

The Setup logic for Office 2000 intentionally turns off and hides the Find Fast Control Panel and Converters for Search Tools features when it detects that you are using Windows 2000. There are built-in capabilities of Windows 2000 that make the installation of these features unnecessary.
