Detect and Repair, or the reinstallation of Microsoft Office 2000 will not correct these errors. In addition, WinWord may be listed multiple times in your Close Programs window, even though Word is not open.
CAUSE
Among other causes, these behaviors may occur if Norton Antivirus 2000 is installed on your computer.
RESOLUTION
Unregister the Norton AntiVirus OfficeAV.DLL add-in:
- On the Start menu, click Run.
- In the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK:
regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\norton antivirus\officeav.dll"
If the command is successful, you see the message:
"DllUnregisterServer in C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\OfficeAV.dll succeeded."
NOTE: If the command is unsuccessful, search the harddrive for the file. It is possible that the file is located in a different folder.
STATUS
This problem occurs when you use Microsoft Office version 2000 and Norton AntiVirus version 2000 v.6.0.

vendors independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or
otherwise, regarding these products' performance or reliability.
MORE INFORMATION
The resolution described earlier disables the virus scanning plug-in that is installed during Norton AntiVirus 2000 setup. This plug-in functions to scan documents for macro-virus infections in Microsoft Office products. When this plug-in is disabled, Norton AntiVirus does not scan documents that are opened.
However, the Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect feature should still provide ongoing protection by scanning any file that is run, downloaded, opened, created, or deleted. For more information about Norton Antivirus 2000, please refer to your product documentation.
