SUMMARY

Several of the components included in the Microsoft Office 97 ValuPack have been updated to coincide with the release of Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 2 (SR-2). This article lists the updated components and provides information about how to obtain and install them.

Obtaining and Installing ValuPack Components

• These components are included on both the Microsoft Office 97 SR-2 Replacement CD and the Microsoft Office 97 SR-2 Patch CD. To install each component, simply double-click its program.
  
  Note that the ValuPack folder on these CDs also includes folders for other ValuPack components that have not been updated. These ValuPack components will work with the programs included in Microsoft Office 97 SR-2.



• The updated ValuPack components may be downloaded from the Microsoft Web site at the following address:

  This page contains links for each of the updated ValuPack components. You can add any component to your download basket by clicking the "Add to basket" check box. When you are ready to download components, click the "Return to Downloads" link, and then click "Go to basket." Then, click the link for each component you want to download.
  
  If you download "Office 97 Service Release 2 ValuPack", you receive a single program, Off97vpk.exe. When you run this program, all of the components listed in this article, except for the 16-bit Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer, are extracted into a folder on your hard disk. You can then install each component by double-clicking its program.
  
  Note that you can install ValuPack components that have not been updated from your Microsoft Office 97 or Microsoft Office 97 SR-1 CD.

Important Notes

• If you are running Windows NT, the installation of ValuPack components may require that you log onto your computer with Administrator-level access.



• The downloaded ValuPack includes one additional component not listed in this article, the Microsoft PowerPoint Tutorial (Ppttut.exe). This component is NOT included on the Microsoft Office 97 SR-2 Replacement CD or SR-2 Patch CD. However, it is included on the Microsoft Office 97 and Microsoft Office 97 SR-1 CD, in the ValuPack\Tutorial folder.
