OFF97: ErrMsg: "The application failed to initialize properly"

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to start Microsoft Access, you receive the following error message:

"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000022). Click OK to terminate the application."

CAUSE

This problem may occur when the following conditions are true:

• You apply the Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 2 (SR-2) patch to a Windows Terminal Server.

• The Windows Terminal Server resides on a disk volume using the NT File System (NTFS).

RESOLUTION

Give the group Everyone, Read rights to the file, Msjet35.dll on the Terminal Server.
