  • Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition
  • Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition

SYMPTOMS

You cannot insert a Microsoft PowerPoint slide into a Microsoft Excel workbook or a Microsoft Word document. You cannot insert the slide by using the user interface or by using a Visual Basic for Applications procedure.

If you click Object on the Insert menu, no command exists for inserting PowerPoint slide.

If you try to programmatically insert a PowerPoint object, you receive the following error message:

Run-time error '1004'
Cannot insert object

STATUS

This behavior is by design of Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition. PowerPoint 98 is not an OLE Automation server; therefore, you cannot insert a PowerPoint object into another program.
