SYMPTOMSWhen you change the Preferred Size memory setting for any of the programs listed at the beginning of this article, the number you enter may unexpectedly increase by about 4000K. CAUSE
You may experience the behavior described in the "Symptoms" section if all
of the following are true:
RESOLUTIONIf the Preferred Size memory setting unexpectedly changes, retype the value that you entered before it changed. You will only have to do this once because it will not automatically change again. STATUSThis problem occurs when you use Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition or Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition and Apple Macintosh OS 8.x. MORE INFORMATIONThe exact amount by which the Preferred Size changes is the value listed in the note at the bottom of the Info window for the program. For example, if you display the Info window for Microsoft Excel, the following note is displayed at the bottom of the window: Note: Memory requirements will decrease by 4160K if virtual memorySo, the first time you change the Preferred Size of Microsoft Excel, the value you change it to will unexpectedly increase by 4160K.
